This Giving Tuesday can you help send kids to Camp Youngblood? Be a special part of our camp community and make a donation to VHF today – no amount is too big or too small!

Camp Youngblood is an annual, week-long overnight summer camp at Camp Holiday Trails in Charlottesville for children ages 7 – 17 with inherited bleeding disorders, their siblings, and children of members of the inherited bleeding disorder community. Kids enjoy a week of  learning through traditional camp experiences with others that are faced with similar challenges and shared stories.

Camp is so important to the kids and teens in the Virginia bleeding disorders community, and it costs VHF $700 to send just one young person!

“After I aged out of Camp Youngblood, I applied to volunteer. I wanted to help the week of Camp Youngblood and then say my final goodbyes. My original plans changed drastically when I was offered a position as a counselor. This was an opportunity that I and many of my fellow campers had dreamed of so of course I jumped right into it. I worked with the younger kids that I had grown up with and I saw new faces introduced to this awesome thing called camp and I could see how it was making a difference. Being a camper was great but being a counselor gave me a whole new perspective on the impact that camp can have. That summer was a humbling experience that steered me in a positive direction and encouraged me to work within my community. I am incredibly grateful to VHF for creating Camp Youngblood.” – Will George, VHF Camp Youngblood Alumni
