Our recent Family Camp Weekend was filled with connection, learning, and fun! This special weekend gave families the opportunity to experience camp life together, build new friendships, and feel the support and care of the VHF community firsthand. First-time attendee Megan Booth shared:
“This was our first family camp experience, and it not only gave us a preview of the environment for our kids’ upcoming summer camp but also offered so much more. We connected with other families facing similar challenges, which helped us feel supported and less alone. Additionally, witnessing the staff and medical team’s prompt and attentive care reassured us that our children would be well cared for. I am so thankful we had the opportunity to learn and experience camp together. Preston’s (9) favorite part about camp was going hiking and meeting other kids that are like him. Eden’s (7) favorite part was tie-dying shirts and having a dance party. Judah’s (5) favorite part was the headphone dance party.”
We are deeply grateful to everyone who made the weekend possible — the dedicated staff at Camp Holiday Trails, Bloom Davis from GutMonkey for facilitating the Leading Edge Program, our sponsors Colburn Keenan Foundation, Inc., CSL Behring, Genentech, and Takeda, and of course, the amazing families who joined us. Moments like these are a powerful reminder of why camp remains one of the most meaningful and impactful parts of our community programming.
