Kathy Mortimer | Vice president, VHF Board of Directors
The board of directors is the governing body of VHF. Board members meet periodically to discuss and vote on the affairs of the organization, to support the work of VHF, and to provide mission-based leadership and strategic governance. Board terms align with our fiscal year and begin on July 1st. Let’s welcome our new members!
Ann Kendall has volunteered with VHF and is currently the co-chair of the VHF advocacy committee. She notes that, “VHF quickly became our Virginia family when we relocated to the Richmond area.” Ann brings 20 years worth of experience in the nonprofit sector as a new member of the VHF board.
Don Smith has experience volunteering with other nonprofit bleeding disorder organizations and currently serves on the Red Tie Soiree Committee. He believes that, “VHF has achieved an immense impact on the bleeding community in Virginia” and Don looks forward to using his nonprofit experience while on the VHF board.
Megan Whiteaker has experience in the healthcare field and is eager to “work in conjunction with the chapter staff to ensure the mission continues to move forward and that the community we serve always feels important and valued.” Megan’s experience volunteering with nonprofits will make her an asset to the board.
Debbie Baugher has already been serving on the VHF scholarship committee and volunteering at events. She looks forward to, “encouraging new families to attend meetings to gain education and support.” She brings her knowledge and experience serving on other nonprofit boards to VHF.
Sarah Waniewski has been volunteering with VHF at events including the Unite Walk, the Red Tie Soiree, and the Community Retreat at Great Wolf Lodge. Sarah is looking forward to being involved, “in the type of community that really supported my family when we were growing up. Sarah is excited to be serving on the VHF board in part, “to make a bigger and longer lasting impact than only volunteering at events.”
Thanks to our VHF Board Members who are rotating off the Board.
Jean Parnell has been a VHF board member for 6 years, most recently serving as treasurer. She has used her expertise in the nonprofit sector to help keep the VHF board running smoothly. She has assisted with fundraisers and financial aspects for VHF. We are glad that she will continue to volunteer for VHF.
Daniel Warren has been a VHF board member for 6 years. He has also served on the VHF executive board as secretary. He is currently the VHF representative for Hemophilia Federation of America (HFA) and will continue to volunteer with VHF.
