Megan Schowengerdt, our new Development Director at VHF, has worked in the non-profit sector in various roles for over twelve years. She comes to VHF from the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) Virginia Chapter, where she helped to manage a fundraising walk campaign called Light the Night in Richmond, which raises over half a million dollars for research and program funding for those with blood cancers. Prior to LLS, Megan was the Central Virginia Division Director for the March of Dimes, where she was responsible for several large fundraising walks and special events. Megan’s background also includes acting as the first Executive Director for the Central Virginia Chapter of the U.S. Green Building Council and other roles more focused on communications, public relations and marketing. Megan graduated Cum Laude from James Madison University in 2005 with a Bachelor of Arts in English. She is from the Richmond area and currently resides in Mechanicsville with her husband, Robert and two children, Rylan (4) and Everly (1).
