HACA/VHF Teen Retreat Virtual Education Series

June 28, 2020 - July 14, 2020

Join the teens of the Hemophilia Association of the Capital Area (HACA) and the Virginia Hemophilia Foundation (VHF) for our Teen Retreat Virtual Education Series.

These educational opportunities are for teens age 13–17 who live within HACA/VHF territory and meet one of the following criteria: Have a bleeding disorder, are the sibling of someone with a bleeding disorder and/or have a parent/caregiver with a bleeding disorder. Each session must be signed up for individually, you do not have to sign up for all in order to participate.


TEEN EDUCATION SESSION:

Topic: Looking to the Future: Careers and How They are Evolving!

Presenter: Kirstin Drye

HACA member and human resources expert Kirstin Drye will lead a discussion about future career aspirations, the possible role of your bleeding disorder, and how the pandemic may influence your choices. There will also be fun games and opportunities to connect with your peers.

TEEN SESSIONS DURING CAMP YOUNGBLOOD: 

Date(s): Monday, July 6th – Friday, July 10th

Join VHF, HACA and Camp Holiday Trails (CHT) for exclusive virtual sessions for teens! Program Director McKenzie has planned fun live and recorded activities so you can bring the magic of Camp home. There will be a teens only hangout, virtual campfire and more.

If your teen would like to have access to this week of content, please go to the link below to fill out the CHT waiver and sign up for virtual programming! TEEN ADVOCACY SESSION:

Date/Time: Tuesday, July 14th at 7:00 pm

Topic: Virtual Reality: Advocacy Meetings in the Age of Zoom

Join the HACA/VHF advocacy committee for an interactive discussion on the how-to’s of setting up and leading a virtual advocacy call with your legislator! This virtual chat is designed for adults, as well as VHF/HACA teens age 13–17.

Disruptions to a session may lead to the removal and/or disabling of the participant’s video and microphone for part of or for the entire session.
