Bleeding Disorders Awareness Month Highlight |
Advocacy and awareness can start at any age. We were touched to learn that Tucker took the initaitive to tell his school principal all about hemophilia and the desire to raise awareness of bleeding disorders with a series of educational videos during the school's morning news. They put together a video series to play once a week throughout the month of March to educate teachers, students, and staff at his school. Tucker we are so proud of you and we know you have a bright future ahead!

Middletown Declares March as Bleeding Disorders Awareness Month Thanks to VHF Community Member |
VHF community member, Kimberly Wilt, got the Mayor of Middletown, VA to declare March as Bleeding Disorders Awareness Month (BDAM.) For March I wanted to step out of my comfort zone, and I asked the Mayor of Middletown for a proclamation declaring March Bleeding Awareness Month. I honestly didn’t think I would get a response, but he reached out to me and invited me to attend the next council meeting on April 8, 2024, to do a little presentation. I accepted.

May is Mental Health Month |
This year’s theme for Mental Health America's (MHA) Mental Health Month is “Where to Start: Mental Health in a Changing World.” It can be overwhelming to navigate the various challenges and changes happening around us. The pressures of work, relationships, and societal factors, like politics, climate change, and the economy, can significantly impact our mental well-being, sometimes even more than we realize. Visit the MHA website for more information.
For mental health support options for caregivers and families in VA visit the NAMI Virginia website.
