Come celebrate the winter season with your bleeding disorders community at Dave & Buster’s in RICHMOND and VIRGINIA BEACH. There will be food, education and good times with your friends and family!

 

This event is limited to constituents that live within the VHF coverage area and their immediate family and/or household members. There is no fee to attend and space is limited. As a reminder there will be no visits from Santa or gifts this year but we will supply $15 power play cards to use at Dave & Busters.

 

Unite For Bleeding Disorders - We Did It!

THANK YOU to everyone that donated, fundraised, sponsored, and volunteered! Because of YOU we surpassed our goal and raised $35,690 for Unite For Bleeding Disorders! Every dollar raised for Unite For Bleeding Disorders stays 100% local to VHF and goes toward supporting our many educational events, advocacy efforts, and community programs.

2022 VHF Medical Symposium Wrap-Up

Over 150 VHF constituents of all ages gathered together on Saturday, October 15th for our Annual Medical Symposium held this year at the Great Wolf Lodge Conference Center in Williamsburg, VA. It was truly wonderful to offer this program in-person for the first time in almost 3 years. 2023 Lyman Fisher Scholarship Application Is Now Open

The VHF Lyman Fisher Scholarship was established to honor Dr. Lyman Fisher, a teacher, researcher, and clinician in hemostasis. For many years, he directed the adult hemophilia program for Virginia. Scholarships are one-year awards in the amount of $2,000 for a full academic year. Application Deadline: 11:59 pm, Friday, March 10, 2023

Open Enrollment for Marketplace Insurance

Open enrollment for the Affordable Care Act (ACA) marketplace health insurance plans begins November 1 on HealthCare.gov. Applicants should enroll by Thursday, December 15, 2022 for coverage that starts January 1, 2023 and enrollment ends Sunday, January 15, 2023. Choosing the right insurance plan can be difficult - remember to reach out to your HTC social worker with any questions you may have.

National Hemophilia Foundation (NHF) Community Voices In Research (CVR)

Your voice is at the center of NHF’s CVR. This community-powered registry will help researchers understand what it really means to live with a bleeding disorder and how current treatments, therapies, and policies affect the community. CVR will collect information from the people directly affected: people with bleeding disorders, their parents, siblings, partners, and caregivers.

Bleeding Disorders Substance Use And Mental Health Coalition

The New England Hemophilia Association (NEHA) has partnered with the Hemophilia Federation of America (HFA), the National Hemophilia Foundation (NHF), HTC providers, and bleeding disorders community members to establish the Bleeding Disorders Substance Use and Mental Health Access Coalition (BD SUMHAC) to address a critical access issue for the bleeding disorders community. The mission of this coalition is to advocate for access to appropriate substance use disorder (SUD) and mental health (MH) treatment facilities for all individuals with a bleeding disorder.
