Marketplace and Medicaid Updates

National Bleeding Disorders Foundation (NBDF) Public Policy & Access Team

Big changes are coming this Fall to the ACA health insurance Marketplaces. New federal regulations, combined with the “One Big Beautiful Bill Act” signed into law on July 4th, mean that many insurance purchasers will face higher costs, new restrictions on eligibility, and more paperwork during open enrollment and beyond.  In addition, the “One Big Beautiful Bill Act” cuts $1 trillion from the Medicaid program and makes sweeping changes to eligibility, enrollment processes, and more. The new Medicaid requirements are not yet in effect now – for the most part, they phase in beginning in 2027 – but we know they are coming. It’s not too early to learn what you can start doing now to prepare for Medicaid work reporting requirements and other program changes.
